Catmint (also known as Catnip) has a long traditional use in cold and flu remedies. It is high in Vitamin C, and is a good drink for feverish colds, especially where there is a feeling of congestion in the airways, ears or sinuses. It aids perspiration in a fever, and is a mild sedative to the nervous system. It is also a digestive stimulant, making it beneficial for stomach upsets, dyspepsia, flatulence and colic. Catmint is a valuable remedy for use in diarrhoea in children.
